Eco-Logical Design: A Panel Discussion

This event is intended to be an open discussion, questions will be encouraged.

GDC VI Student and Professional Scholarships

We're proud to bring you the first scholarship available exclusively to professional members of our chapter, as well as three new scholarships open exclusively to GDC VI students.

Graphex and Rock Awards Exhibit

Join the GDC VI in celebrating the cream of the crop. View the winning work from Canada's 2008 national graphic design competition and the winning work from Vancouver Island's graphic design competition.

The Graphex and Rock Awards exhibit will be open for one day only. It is a casual event so feel free to bring clients and friends the view the work. Refreshments will be served.

Practivism / Vancouver

Have your perception of sustainability in the design community updated with someone of the most forward thinking and progressive industry leaders on sustainability. November 13th, 2008 at Science World.

The Society of Graphic Designers/BC Chapter and event sponsor Rhino Print Solutions welcome you to the second in an ongoing series of design speaking events. For this event we are proud to welcome some of the most recognized names and industry leaders for Design Sustainability.

Guest Speakers, Marc Alt, Brian Dougherty and Eric Karjaluoto join guest moderator Valerie Elliot (President of GDC/VI) to present their strategies and suggestions for practical activism within a design practice. Following their presentations  Valerie  will moderate a question and answer period.

In addition Brian's will have his new book Green Graphic Design available for purchase and signing.

The GDC VI chapter offers a free portfolio orientation that we strongly recommend designers attend before submitting their portfolio. If you cannot attend this event please contact our membership chair by emailing membership.vibc@gdc.net.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC) established the Professional (MGDC & LGDC) membership categories to recognize members who have invested valuable time in training and who have gained a recognized level of competence in graphic design through practical experience. Being awarded the MGDC designation and wearing the silver lapel pin signals to clients, the business community and the public that you are a recognized and practicing graphic designer with over five years of experience. Graphic designers with up to five years of experience can apply for Licentiate membership and can use the LGDC designation.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS Acceptance into the MGDC or LGDC membership categories requires a confidential review of your work by the GDC Vancouver Island (GDC-VI) Standards Officers. Start your application process today by completing the submission requirements (found at www.gdc.net or from your chapter’s membership chair) and submit your portfolio to the GDC-VI Membership Chair by the submission deadline.
